Health at work

The health of employees influences organizational and corporate success in the short and long term. Health behavior and the health of employees are positively associated with productivity and negatively associated with absenteeism (cf. Merrill et al., 2013).

The World Health Organization has declared stress to be one of the greatest threats of the 21st century. Increasingly, organizations are investing in workplace health management and promoting employee health and health behaviors, for example, with health/wellness programs and offerings for exercise, healthy diet, stress management, or mindfulness.

Research at the Center for Leadership and People Management on health at work focuses on the following topics in particular:

  • Positive Psychological Capital (PsyCap) and effectiveness of PsyCap training.
  • Emergence of stress, stress management and protective factors for stress
  • Emotion regulation
  • Mindfulness in organizations/companies
  • Work demands and resources
